a lover of words...

Quotes, well words in general, have always been an outlet for me, as well as lyrics of songs and excerpts of books. If you follow me on Twitter, it's possible that you get sick of reading my tweets because most of them are from the bridge of a song that many people haven't heard.

You see, I've always been known for listening to strange music, even though I love country music. I usually throw in some alternative, singer/songwriter things, and I tend to stray from mainstream when I do that. Hence - I loved Mumford & Sons before they were really a huge deal, and I love many artists now that I believe COULD be a big deal. The reason why is A) they're different B) their songs aren't overplayed on the radio and C) I'm just generally for the underdog, anyway.

Now, the only downfall to this perk of mine is that many of my friends dread having to listen to songs that I'm into, and sometimes even David won't! However, there have been many songs that I have slipped onto a cd that I made him and said, "Just listen to the words." 9 times out of 10, he likes it (and will listen to it again!)

With all of that being said, another main reason why I love music is because it is an outlet for someone else. It is a place they go to write these things they sing through the radio in order to free their minds of their troubles. I have listened to songs before and thought, "does this person follow me around? How are we THAT much alike?"

The truth is, this same quality of words being forced together around commas and periods and melodies and verses can be found in books as well, formulated into paragraphs, bold and italics, and even put into different fonts. It's Fitzgerald who makes me think and fall in love all over, and Toni Morrison who brings me back to the root of history. Helen Keller said meaningful things during her lifetime, and Charles Dickens wrote wisely, too. All of these people wrote meaningful words, words that help cope or put things into perspective, but I have to say the Word of God is also a powerful book of words that any and everyone should lean on and believe in during all times of their lives.

All in all, I love words. I love when people use their ability to write things that are meaningful and useful to people in different times of their lives. I am aware that there are many books I've never read and songs I've never listened to, but I am growing in that aspect, and I love finding new words.
