"Halloween" has never been a "holiday" that I look that deeply into. I know all the legends, myths, and meanings behind what everyone says it stands for, and I judge no one who chooses to not take part in it, but it is fun to celebrate by decorate pumpkins, sitting around a fire, roasting a marshmallow, or tearing into a Reese cup! Our first Halloween happened not long after David and I started dating. We started dating on October 7, 2011, and that means Halloween was right around the corner!
David & I as "Big Game Hunters"
Hollie and Bonner as "Shaggy & Velma"
As an Ambassador at Scooba, Hollie and I decided it would be fun to have a little Halloween party with the rest of the Ambassadors. So, we planned a few snacks, told everyone to dress up, had my dad build a place for a fire (thanks, Daddy!), and set up camp at our barn that resides about 20 miles from my house. Everyone showed up dressed as all sorts of things. From Snooki to Dr. Doolittle, they were all there!
Once the idea came about to have a party, the next idea we had was dressing up. I knew from the get-go that David was WAY too much like my brother in that he doesn't do well in clothes other than Carhartt and camouflage, so being the "newly-in-a-relationship-girlfriend" that I was, I tried to think of something that would be fun for the two of us, unique, and comfortable for David, too. I also can't really justify buying or renting a costume only to wear it for one night! So, the photo above shows what I came up with, and the cost of the outfit was probably around $8-12.00, and that was the cost of the plastic shotgun! We called ourselves "Big Game Hunters" (hence the moose Pillow Pet of mine) :) how unique, huh? Hey, it worked!
The party was a lot of fun, and it was very laid back. You could stay inside and chat, gather around the fire, or you could have even brought a pumpkin to decorate. David didn't make it all the way to painting his, unfortunately, because the green paint he was trying to use ended up all over his (new) overalls, my (new) camouflage pants, and the side of his pumpkin. That pretty much ended his creative streak for the night :)
It was a low-key "holiday", and we had a great time!
