So, since my last post was about birthdays, I am officially in the birthday spirit!
Now, you should all know that my actual birthday isn't until late August, but for me - it begins tomorrow! So, anything and everything can be done "because it's my birthday". However, the actual week leading up to my birthday is the real deal!
:)
Last year, on Thursday David came to my house and we started the weekend early. That Saturday he took me to Tuscaloosa where we enjoyed 5 Guys Burgers and Fries, and he bought a beautiful Fossil watch for me. When he came on Thursday, he brought me my favorite flowers {at the time, my favorite flowers change pretty regularly}, and the sweetest note.
I love his heart for me and his desire to make me feel special.
Once we got home from Tuscaloosa, we spent the evening with Matt at a fish fry he had for his friends, and later we rode around with Hollie and Bonner. {Little did we know, they would be engaged that very next weekend!} On Sunday we attended church as usual and hung out playing Phase 10 with my family and Mom cooked supper for me.
She also had a cake made for me. Now ya'll. Let me explain this cake!
{I swore I'd never post this photo anywhere, but it's too funny not to tell!}
I had a bad experience with dyed icing the year before on my birthday. Like, we had dyed icing and dyed mouths and fingertips after it was all said and done, so I requested like an airbrushed "Happy birthday" on this cake instead of dying the icing, and here's what we got!
:-/
Don't let looks deceive, though. It was delish!!
A little gift action!!
David actually got me some cow slippers that look like this:
Perfect for my cow obsession!!
:)
I joke that everyone is so happy in this photo because this day marked the LAST day that I could milk my birthday for all it was worth. That's definitely what Matt was thumbs upping about!
Seriously though, I am joking about truly trying to be a princess, but it is sort of a joke within our family that my birthday starts tomorrow. They usually play along, and let my opinion overrule whatever I'm arguing of, but they make a huge fuss about August being a really slow month because of me dragging it out.
However, August is a special month! Despite that it is my birthday, it's also the same month that school starts back, which means new beginnings for everyone! Whether it's you beginning, or you celebrating not having to go back, or maybe you even have children who are starting school for the first time, or advancing into another grade - whatever the situation - it is a season of change.
For me, this is {cross my fingers} the last time I will start school with the anticipation of another summer. Summer of 2014 will be the last "free" summer I have - if all goes accordingly.
So, I am going to relish in these last few weeks I have of freedom before school takes over my life again, and while I'm doing that I'm going to remind everyone on a weekly basis that my birthday is sure to follow because let's face it: there aren't going to be many more years where I want people to know I have a birthday.!
