I am fully aware that it's nearly Wednesday, but better late than never, right? What better way to celebrate LAST weekend than posting about it right before the beginning of another weekend. Right? Right!
Friday, Laura and I set out on a "end of the summer" shopping trip! We also had one Thursday, but Friday Mom and I got inspired to re-do our living room area, so Laura and I set out to see what we could find for it!
On Thursday, we had been to Dirt Cheap and scored a TON of cute stuff. Rugs, pillows, decorative birds, $2 pj pants (once from target and liz claiborne), so we thought we may luck up at a different dirt cheap on Friday!
... and we did!
I actually got a new bedspread at TJ Maxx,
(love it)
and I found two cute rugs at Dirt Cheap.
I also found Mom this cute window mirror...
a set of 3 canvases that have a ton of brighter colors in them,
a lantern,
the words "EAT" for the kitchen (that she's not crazy about, so we aren't using them),
and a few other small things!
That was fun! I haven't mentioned on my blog how CRAZY I am about dirt cheap, but everyone who knows me basically knows! I'm nuts about it - and I blame it on Laura. She's the best shopping partner, too. She doesn't let me buy something "in the moment", and she provides great advice about where things could go if I did buy them. Plus, if I'm lucky she will stick around when we get home and help me decorate! Ha!
It was fun to spend the day with her. Well, really two days! I'm trying to drag out going back to school, so this is helping me do so!
David arrived around 6:00, and we went to eat dinner. Once we came back, we decided to just hang out. We were going to rent a movie, but it started storming, and we opened the door to my upstairs bathroom and opened the shutters too, and we both stood at the door of the bathroom with all the other lights out upstairs and watched the lightening. I loved it! It was truly incredible.
On Saturday, we ate lunch at the Bakery with Mom and Mimi. I woke up around 7:30 for some strange reason, and I woke David up around 8, so we hung out around for awhile before leaving to do that. Once we got back, David helped us hang the canvases that I got for Mom, and we rode out to help set up for the Turkey Banquet, but once we got there it was almost finished.
We spent Saturday night at the banquet, and it was fun! David sat with me while I "manned" the Women in the Outdoors table, and I think he enjoyed listening to the live auction. The auctioneer was too funny, and he made the whole thing fun! Usually I get super bored during that time.
Sunday we went to church at my home church. Sometimes when we are home we go over to Mimi's church, and sometimes we even go up to Pinelake, but we have been staying in Macon and going to the church I grew up in lately. I find as I am getting older that my home church means more to me now than ever. During the time where David and I weren't going as much, I found myself comparing it to the others we would attend. Plus, I like being there on Sundays with my parents and the people who have been in church with me for my whole life, really.
Sunday afternoon, we went to see TK! You can read about our visit with him here. I love that little guy, and I will be SO glad when he is just a driveway away instead of an hour drive away.
We ate at sonic before coming home, and I wish we could have a video of how long {and complicated} it was to complete our order. Who knew 4 people could be so complicated?
Daddy didn't get to go, unfortunately. He's been sick for the last few weeks and just wasn't feeling like he could make the trip. I know TK missed seeing him, though. That's his play-mate!
David left early Monday morning, and as usual I didn't want him to. It always makes my heart ache when he leaves, and I just don't feel completely right again until we are together. I love that we are able to communicate during the week through phone calls and text messages, but it just doesn't add up to being in his presence.
On Monday night around 10PM, I downloaded this new album, and if you love country music - you need this. Super amazing!
I also did a little painting last night while I watched the CMA Festival. I have been wanting to paint this all summer, and here we are - a week before it's over, and I am painting. I had to paint something for a friend, so I decided to just do this while I was at it. I had David cut the wood for it awhile back, and it's been patiently waiting for me in my closet, so I fancied it up a little last night, and Mom has confiscated it for her kitchen. {I gave her permission, but it IS on loan!}
I also just went ahead and painted my nails while watching Switched at Birth. The color comes off as being green {which has something to do with the green tribal accent}, but it's actually Essie's Borrowed and Blue paired with Sally Hansen's Golden Rule. I love the hint of glitter and the fact that it is around the nail bed instead of the ordinary nail tip!
Today I took Mimi to a doctor's appointment in Columbus. We had lunch and went to Dirt Cheap {are ya'll seeing a trend? She loves it too!} I dropped her off at the appointment, went to TJ Maxx to get Mom some pillows for the "new" living room, and I also picked up my new glasses! I am in love! While I definitely still like my bold-black plastic frames for certain occasions, I love these Banana Republic ones. They are a tad lighter than the ones pictured above, so they really blend with my hair and skin tone. I'm really happy with them! If you follow me on IG, maybe you'll see a photo soon!
HAPPY {almost} HUMP DAY!!
