EMCC Graduation!

I think one of my favorite things about being college sweethearts is that David and I got to graduate together. High school graduation was fun, and just like I was glad to spend it with my classmates then, I was glad to spend this one with David. I also got to spend it with my best friend, Hollie, and David got to spend it with his best friend, Mikell, and the two of them happened to be dating as well. (We couldn't have planned it better ourselves!)

On the day of graduation, our families all met in the parking lot before going inside and sitting together. I made my way inside with David, and we sat amongst his forestry classmates for the last time. Once our tassels were straight and we were beside each other in line, we started our walk into the gymnasium.

EMCC was not fun for me the first year, for many reasons that I won't get into, but in the blink of an eye at the start of my second year, David showed up out of nowhere and made it one of the best years of my life. I looked forward to seeing him everyday for class, and On Wednesdays we always had lunch together. (There are two gas stations in that little town, so you can imagine how romantic that was!)

Walking down the aisle of the gym that day made me realize how much I was going to miss being with him at school. We really took for granted our time together there. It would be the (first and) last time I would graduate with him, but it wasn't only that, it was knowing that after that day, a new chapter of our lives were starting. Sure, we would still be together, but not every single day like we had been for class. As I grow older, I realize how uneasy I can be about change. Sometimes change is good, but in this case it made me sad.

I don't remember a single word that was said during the ceremony, but we turned our tassels, got our diplomas and got out of there! Once we made our way outside, David's hand reached back for mine and we went to find our families.

David also gave me a beautiful pandora ring for the occasion, and I gave him a new wallet and some money!
